Welcome to AfriCamps at Pat Busch in Robertson

Dear Glampers

Welcome to AfriCamps at Pat Busch, the ultimate escape to nature. Tucked away in a hidden valley surrounded by lush mountains and green hills is Pat Busch Mountain Reserve, home to 10 boutique glamping tents just outside Robertson. Cape fynbos surrounds the tents which look out over a folded green valley with the Langeberg Mountains as a backdrop. The reserve is made up of 2 000 hectares of spectacular mountain fynbos with streams, mountain dams, birdlife, and various animals such as bucks, fallow deer, Nguni cows and even a very shy leopard.

We invite you to escape the hustle and bustle and come and explore this hidden valley together with your dearest friends and family. The possibilities on the property are endless and include several walking trails, good bird watching, fishing for bass, and swimming and paddling in the farm dam. The sparkling nine-metre swimming pool, fringed by a rolling green lawn is also a welcomed addition at which to chill in the summer blaze.

The reserve forms part of the Klaasvoogds West foothills in the Langeberg Mountain between the towns of Robertson and Montagu. With over 160 years of history, Victorian buildings, jacaranda-lined streets, and vineyards banked with beautiful roses, Robertson has become one of the most attractive towns in the Cape Winelands. The Robertson Valley forms part of Route 62, the longest wine route in the world, famous for its many wine festivals. The area offers a wide variety of attractions, activities, and culinary delights. Visit the Rialheim, a ceramic factory, where you can view and buy unique and fun handcrafted ceramic homeware. Take wine tasting to a whole new level by taking the Viljoensdrift River Cruise which includes a gourmet picnic on the tranquil waters of the Breede River. Or meander your way up the Langeberg Mountain with the Montagu Tractor Trip and enjoy a traditional potjiekos at an altitude of 1 500 metres above sea level. Round off your day with a soothing massage at Rosendal Wellness Centre while soaking in the beauty of the vineyards.

Meet the Owners

AfriCamps at Pat Busch Mountain Reserve is owned by Stephan and Lindi Busch. In the early 80s, the reserve used to be a working farm growing peaches, apricots, and vines. Stephan's dad, who moved from Germany to South Africa 50 years ago, used to spend a lot of his free time on the farm hiking, fishing, and swimming and fell in love with the place. That is why, many years later in 1985, when he got the opportunity to buy the land, he did not hesitate for a second. From that moment onwards the farm was better known as the Pat Busch Mountain Reserve. At the time, many people used to stay over in the hiking cabins on the property. Making a reservation was done by simply leaving a post letter behind in the mailbox. Renting out these cabins was their first encounter with tourism and marked the beginning of a whole new venture.

Growing up on the reserve, Stephan knows every nook and cranny of the property. He met his wife, Lindi, working in the wine industry as a boutique winemaker. The couple is now happily married and the proud parents of Logan and Aurelia. In 2012, Stephan Lindi decided to take over 495 hectares of the reserve, including cottages and a large farmhouse. Due to the popular demand for the property, they started hiring it out as a wedding and event venue. Throughout the years they have hosted many special occasions, establishing Pat Busch as one of the main event venues in the area.
